Klinion® Kliniderm® Hydrocolloid Border Dressings

Klinion® Kliniderm® Hydrocolloid Border is a hydroactive, self-adhesive dressing consisting of polyurethane foam coated with hydrocolloid. It is suitable for use in combination with compression therapy.
The dressing is flexible and conformable, impermeable to water and bacteria, and does not adhere to the wound bed. This reduces pain during dressing changes and prevents trauma to newly formed tissue.
Not made with natural rubber latex or DEHP.

  • Applying Klinion Kliniderm Hydrocolloid Border Dressings

    1. Clean the wound according to local protocols. Ensure peri-wound skin is dry.
    2. Select a dressing size that overlaps the wound margins by 2–3 cm.
    3. Remove the protective paper, apply the adhesive side to the wound, and smooth down the edges for secure adhesion.
To remove: Gently peel back the dressing until fully detached.

    Dressing Change and Removal

    1. Klinion® Kliniderm® Hydrocolloid can remain in place for up to 7 days, depending on wound condition and exudate levels.
    2. Replace the dressing if the gel bubble reaches the size of the wound.
    3. For post-operative wounds, change the dressing when sutures are removed.
    4. To remove, gently lift the dressing while supporting the surrounding skin. Dispose of according to local protocols. If removal is difficult, moisten with sterile saline.
    5. Irrigate the wound as required following good wound care practice.

    Precautions

  • In case of infection, consult a healthcare professional for appropriate treatment.
  • A yellowish gel with a distinct odour may form under the dressing. This is a normal hydrocolloid reaction and will disappear after wound cleansing.
  • Do not use on patients with known sensitivity to polyurethane, carboxymethylcellulose, or acrylic adhesives.
  • Sterile if pouch and seal are intact. Do not use if packaging is damaged.
  • Single use only. Re-use may cause serious infection.
  • Do not re-sterilise.
  • For external use only. Use under healthcare professional supervision.
