Zorflex LA Dressings

Low Adherent Antimicrobial Wound Contact Layer

Zorflex® LA is a low adherent wound contact layer for chronic, non-healing wounds. By cleaning the wound of microorganisms and creating favourable conditions for healing, Zorflex® can significantly reduce signs of infection within 4 weeks¹ ².
Zorflex® LA is an activated carbon cloth dressing designed as a conformable contact layer with four-fold benefits.

Product Benefits

Through using Zorflex® we aim to reduce patient recovery times and associated care costs. This technology is proven effective against MRSA and modulation of proteases³ ⁴, with four-fold benefits including:
  • 100% pure activated carbon cloth
  • Reduces pain and exudate⁵
  • Reduces malodour through adsorption*
  • Provides a naturally effective antimicrobial barrier for up to 7 days
  • Easy to apply and remove
  • Can be cut to shape and folded
  • Safe and risk free
  • Non-cytotoxic
  • *Adsorption is the process where molecules physically adhere to surface of the adsorbent dressing.
    How does Zorflex® work?
Microorganisms from the wound are attracted to the activated carbon cloth, bound to the surface and destroyed.
The van der Waals electrostatic forces draw small gas and liquid molecules away from the wound, to the dressing, where they become trapped in micropores.
Bacteria cells that are too large to enter the micropores are trapped on the surface of Zorflex®. Electrostatic tension builds up in the trapped cells until the tension overcomes the tensile strength of the cell walls, resulting in cell walls rupture, destroying the microorganisms.

    Indications

Zorflex® LA is indicated as an antimicrobial dressing for over discharging, partial or full thickness wounds such as:
  • Venous leg ulcers
  • Diabetic foot ulcers
  • Fungating carcinomas
  • Pressure ulcers
  • Trauma
  • Surgical sites
  • Donor and recipient grafts
  • Applying Zorflex LA

    1. Cleanse the wound bed with sterile water or follow local guidelines, ensure that the wound bed is free from any traces of creams or ointments
    2. Cut the dressing to shape, covering the peri-wound if maceration is evident. Do not tear.
    3. Apply the dressing directly to the wound surface either way up, with the direction of stretch running along the limb to allow movement
    4. Secure Zorflex® LA with an appropriate secondary dressing/compression therapy or with a retention sheet, tape or bandage that allows the transfer of exudate into the secondary dressing without disturbing Zorflex or the wound bed N.B. The performance will be impaired if not placed directly onto the wound
    5. Zorflex® LA can be left on the wound for up to 7 days, or as clinically indicated. Any threads or fibres which detach from the dressing can be easily seen and removed
