The powerful protection of Kendall™ AMD antimicrobial foam dressings are also available in foam discs which are effective for up to 7 days. The PHMB impregnated foam discs help to provide a barrier of protection for catheter insertion sites.

  • Indications

    Kendall AMD antimicrobial foam discs is an ideal dressing in the local management of exudate that may occur at surgically induced body exit sites such as
  • Catheter insertions (e.g. central venous catheters and peripherally inserted central catheters)
  • Tracheostomy sites
  • External fixation devices
  • G-tubes or J-tubes
  • Penrose drains
  • Chest drains
  • Nephrostomy sites
  • Central venous lines
  • Suprapubic catheters
  • Precautions

  • Not to be used with Dakin's solution as it renders PHMB ineffective.
  • KENDALL AMD Antimicrobial Foam Disc Dressings can be used in conjunction with prescribed therapies for the treatment of infections.
  • Dressings are not intended as a primary treatment for infections. If clinical signs of infection are present, please consult a physician.
  • Do not use as a primary treatment for full third-degree burns.
  • Do not use on patients with a known sensitivity to PHMB.
  • Applying Kendall AMD Foam Discs

    1. Cleanse the wound in accordance with normal procedures
    2. Dry the surrounding skin thoroughly
    3. Prepare the site per local protocol
    4. Remove Kendall™ AMD Antimicrobial Foam Disc Dressing from package and place dressing around the percutaneous device
    5. The disc is not orientated and can be applied with either side down
    6. For easiest removal during dressing changes, align disc slit under the existing catheter (covering the perforation/slit with the catheter)
    7. Approximate perforation / slit edges for best efficiency
    8. Secure Kendall™ AMD Antimicrobial Foam Disc Dressing and percutaneous device with transparent dressing or other suitable securement dressing

    Frequency of dressing change

  • Change per facility protocol and as needed for excessive drainage. The Kendall™ AMD Antimicrobial Foam Disc Dressing is effective for up to 7 days.
  • Dressing change and removal

  • To change the dressing, remove the securement dressing or fixation and carefully lift the dressing off the wound. Kendall™ AMD Antimicrobial Foam Disc Dressings are non-adherent, non-adhesive and non-gelling.
