PolyMem® Silver WIC Cavity Fillers
A Unique Multifunctional Polymeric Membrane Dressing, Designed To Facilitate Healing, Relieve Pain And Reduce Inflammation.
PolyMem® WIC Silver is a non-adhesive cavity filler that expands within the wound to conform to deep spaces and tunnels. It combines the proven benefits of PolyMem® technology with the antimicrobial action of silver. The silver is embedded in the membrane, releasing ions when moisture is present to help reduce bioburden while minimising silver release into the wound bed.
Product Benefits
The ONLY dressing of its kind…
When PolyMem® Silver is applied to the wound, the dressing components work individually and synergistically to support wound healing and pain relief¹.
How the PolyMem® Silver formulation works:
High purity small silver particles are uniformly distributed throughout and bound into the PolyMem® formulated membrane for maximum surface area and effectiveness. Silver ions, which provide the antimicrobial action, are released from the surface of the silver particles when they come in contact with moisture.
All PolyMem dressings effectively cleanse, fill, absorb and moisten wounds throughout the healing continuum.
PolyMem® Silver WIC deliver the following benefits:
Note: An increase in wound fluid may be observed during the first few days of use. This is a normal effect of PolyMem technology and indicates the dressing is working.

Indications
PolyMem® WIC Silver Cavity Fillers are indicated for use by healthcare professionals in the management of deep or tunnelling wounds, particularly where infection or increased bioburden is present. Typical wound types include:
Contraindications & Precautions
Applying PolyMem® Silver WIC
1. Prepare wound – cleanse and debride according to local protocol. Ensure peri-wound skin is dry.
2. Select size – choose a filler slightly smaller than the wound cavity. The dressing expands by approximately one-third (30 %) when absorbing exudate.
3. Insert filler – gently place into the wound cavity, ensuring it is in contact with the wound bed but without over-packing.
4. For tunnelling wounds – use the rope (cord) variant, leaving one end accessible for removal.
5. Cover – apply a suitable secondary dressing (e.g. PolyMem pad, foam, or film) to secure the filler in place.
6. Monitor – outline wound margins on the secondary dressing if helpful to assess exudate and dressing change needs.
7. Wear time – dressing may remain in place for up to 7 days, depending on exudate level and wound condition. Change earlier if saturation occurs.
8. Removal – gently withdraw the filler; if resistance is encountered, moisten with sterile saline to ease removal.
